Lure Your Dog Into Position

Use this when teaching a new position or behavior your dog doesn't yet know.

  1. 1Hold a treat near your dog's nose so they notice it.
  2. 2Slowly move the treat in the direction of the position you want.
  3. 3Mark the moment your dog reaches the position.
  4. 4Reward while your dog is still in that position.
  5. 5Shape your luring motion to match the hand signal you'll eventually use.

A lure helps your dog learn the movement.
